Light of the world
The air was getting colder; the wind had begun to blow
A winter storm was coming, bringing freezing rain and snow.
Getting
a Christmas tree home was the major task of the day
So it could be adorned,
with lights and ornaments to be put on display.
Off to
the Christmas tree farm to pick out a tree
One that would hold ornaments just
so, and be shaped perfectly.
With
the perfect tree found and heading home again
To get it set up so the
trimming could begin.
The
tree in it's stand, plumb and level set just so
The stand filled with water
it was ready to go.
Once
strung with lights, the tree began to glow
My mind went back to a time, long
long ago.
When a
star in the eastern sky brightly did glow
Marking a place the Angels had
foretold.
Where the Savior of all mankind
Born of
a virgin in a manger did lay
That very first glorious Christmas
day.
My
prayer for one and all as I make this plea,
That we remember the light of the
world
Born on Christmas day, the one who came to
die,
That we may have life Eternally.
