I Envy the Light

The springtime's moring sun rising through the mountain gap

Glistening off the creeks and streams

Bringing it's bright morning light and warmth to

the quiet valley bellow.

I envy the light.

The sun's rays from summers twilight

Shine radiantly from her golden hair

Reflecting from her eyes of sparkling blue.

I envy the light.

The change of seasons bringing autumn's vast colors and hues

Accompany the bright harvest moon

Whose reflected light shows the grey shades of the eerie night.

I envy the light.

The light and heat from the winter sun melting ice and snow

Brings promise of springtime, new birth when things begin to grow.

I envy the light.

My trail through life has reached its end, fading fast

And, one more time

My eyes close,
and.............

I have reached the light.
